I’ve been trying The Lift Box, and since product reviews are going to be part of Not Another Mother Runner, I wanted to share what I actually think about it.
The idea is pretty simple. You get a monthly fitness box filled with different products to try. The standard Lift Box currently includes a shirt or tank, snacks, supplement samples, a drink, and a specialty fitness item.
And overall?
I like it.
It’s Like a Fitness Surprise Every Month
One of my favorite things about the Lift Box is the variety.
I’ve gotten to try products I probably wouldn’t have picked up on my own. That’s really the fun of a subscription box. You don’t completely know what’s coming, and sometimes you discover something you really like.
The company itself also has a pretty cool story. The Lift Box started in 2017, and one of its co-owners is a six-year Navy veteran. I always appreciate being able to support businesses with veteran connections.
Let’s Talk About the Shirts
Every regular Lift Box includes either a T-shirt or tank top.
For me, the shirts run SMALL.
I’m talking roughly two sizes smaller than what I normally wear.
Obviously, everyone’s body and preferred fit are different, so your experience might not be the same as mine. Interestingly, Lift Box itself recommends sizing up in its women’s tees.
Once I figured out the sizing, though, I liked getting a new workout shirt as part of the box.
What I Like ❤️
The variety is probably the biggest selling point for me. Opening the box and discovering new snacks, supplements, drinks, fitness products, and apparel makes it fun.
I also like that you’re not necessarily getting the same brands and products you’d automatically grab at the store. It gives me an excuse to try something new without buying a full-size package first.
And I appreciate the company’s veteran connection.
What I Don’t Love
My biggest complaint is customization.
I really wish there were more ways to customize the box around my individual needs and wants.
Part of the fun is obviously being surprised, so I don’t necessarily want to choose every item myself. But I’d love to be able to give them more information about what I use, what I don’t use, what types of products I’m interested in, and what I’d rather not receive.
I’m apparently not alone on this one either. Other customer feedback on the company’s site mentions wanting more personalization.
The other downside for me has been shipping time.
My boxes have taken around two weeks to arrive. Lift Box says first boxes normally ship within a few business days, while subsequent monthly boxes ship during the week of the 20th.
It’s not a deal breaker, but when you’re waiting for a mystery box, two weeks feels suspiciously like seventeen years.
Would I Recommend The Lift Box?
Yes, with a couple of caveats.
If you enjoy trying new fitness products and like the surprise of not knowing exactly what’s coming every month, I think the Lift Box is a lot of fun.
Just pay attention to the shirt sizing, especially with the women’s tees, and don’t expect a box that’s completely tailored to you.
I’d personally love to see more customization options and faster shipping, but neither has been enough to make me stop enjoying the boxes.
For me, getting to open the box and discover products I wouldn’t normally try is what keeps it interesting.
Real products. Real opinions. No filter.
