Day 46 of 70.
Today I decided to push myself a little harder.
My husband has been talking about doing this endurance event where you run, walk, or hike as many loops as you can in six hours. Each loop is about 2.1 miles.
When you hear 2.1 miles, it really doesn’t sound that bad.
Famous last words.
We decided to do a test run of the course to see what it was like and whether it was something he actually wanted to do.
Well…
The first mile-ish of that innocent little 2.1-mile loop is basically straight uphill. We’re talking somewhere around a 50-degree incline.
WHAT. A. WORKOUT.
That first mile kicked my butt.
Once we made it through the climb, the rest of the loop wasn’t nearly as bad. But after experiencing that hill, I definitely have a whole new appreciation for what doing that loop over and over for six hours would actually mean.
Apparently, whoever designed this course woke up and chose violence. 😂
After finishing our test loop, we decided we weren’t quite done yet. We took another loop around the park and finished the evening with a total of 5.75 miles.
And as hard as that first climb was, I loved it.
Being outside, hiking with my husband, challenging myself, and discovering that I can push through something even when my legs are questioning every decision I’ve ever made is exactly what this challenge is becoming about.
Yesterday was about finding the time to get it done.
Today was about pushing a little harder when I had the opportunity.
Another 5.75 miles in the books.
Day 46 complete. 24 days to go. 💪🩷
Real miles. Real mom. No filter.
