Not Another Mother Runner

REAL MILES, REAL MOM, NO FILTER

Day 64 of 70.

Today’s theme was:

RUN THE DAY.

Originally, I planned on running 8 miles today. Then I saw someone else doing a “Run the Day” challenge, and with today’s date being 9/07, I thought…

Why not?

Apparently eight miles wasn’t enough.

9.07 miles it is. 😂

This Wasn’t My Best Run

I’m not going to pretend today’s run felt amazing.

It didn’t.

Some runs feel great. You find your rhythm, the miles click by, and you feel like you could keep going forever.

Today was not that run.

My legs started cramping, and by the time I finished, they were cramping so badly that I honestly wasn’t sure driving home was going to be in the cards.

So I stopped.

I drank some water.

I stretched.

And I gave my legs a little time to recover before trying to go anywhere.

Thankfully, after some water and stretching, things settled down enough that I could get myself moving again. Hydration and gentle stretching can help with exercise-related muscle cramps, so apparently my body wasn’t being completely unreasonable with its demands for water.

Not Every Victory Has to Be a PR

Today’s run wasn’t fast.

It wasn’t pretty.

There was no new personal record waiting for me at the end.

But there were 9.07 miles.

And sometimes that’s the accomplishment.

I’ve spent so much of this challenge trying to go faster, farther, or harder that it’s easy to think every workout needs some huge victory attached to it.

It doesn’t.

Today I set out to run the date.

September 7th.
9.07 miles.
Done.

And I’m proud of that.

Now these legs are getting some much-deserved recovery because they’ve made their opinions about today’s activities VERY clear.

Day 64 complete. Only 6 days to go. 💪🩷

Real miles. Real mom. No filter.
