Sorry I missed the blog post yesterday!
But don’t worry, I didn’t miss the workout.
It was just another one of those days where life decided there weren’t quite enough hours available.
I got out of work a little later than I wanted, then had to stop at the store to pick up a few things. By the time all of that was done, I knew one thing:
My body needed a rest day.
After the workouts I’ve been putting it through lately, especially that 9.07-mile run, I think my legs had earned the right to file that request.
But we’re on Day 65 of 70.
I’m definitely not messing this challenge up now.
Rest Day Doesn’t Mean Do Nothing
One thing I’ve learned during this challenge is that a rest day doesn’t necessarily mean sitting on the couch and doing absolutely nothing.
Sometimes it means slowing down.
So instead of running, chasing another PR, climbing hills, or trying to destroy myself with another workout, I took an active rest day.
I met a friend at the park, and we walked.
That’s it.
No running.
No PR chasing.
No worrying about pace.
No trying to go farther or faster.
We just walked and talked.
And laughed.
Honestly, after everything I’ve been putting myself through lately, it was exactly what I needed.
Recovery Is Part of the Work
It’s funny how much my definition of a “rest day” has changed.
There was a time when going to the park for a walk absolutely would have counted as my workout.
Now I’m calling it recovery.
That’s another one of those little reminders of just how much has changed over these last 65 days.
Not every workout has to leave me exhausted.
Not every day needs a new record.
Sometimes the goal is simply to keep moving while giving your body a chance to recover.
Yesterday was one of those days.
I got my movement in, spent some time with a friend, laughed a lot, and gave my legs a much-needed break.
I’d call that a pretty successful rest day.
And more importantly…
The streak is still alive.
We’re way too close to the finish line to stop now.
Day 65 complete. Only 5 days to go. 💪🩷
Real miles. Real mom. No filter.
