Missed the blog again.
But just like the last time, I didn’t miss the workout.
Yesterday was another busy day. I left work and headed straight to the park because I needed to get my workout finished before my son’s first football game of the season.
There was just one problem.
I was NOT feeling this workout.
At all.
Everything Was Telling Me to Go Home
I started running, and almost immediately my knee just felt tight.
Nothing about the run felt right.
Then, about 1.5 miles in, my headphones died.
Perfect.
Because apparently struggling through a run wasn’t enough. Now I got to listen to myself breathe too. π
This was absolutely one of those days where I could have gone home, climbed into bed, opened my book, and been completely happy with that decision.
And trust me…
I wanted to.
But we’re on Day 66 of 70.
I’m not stopping now.
So I kept moving.
It wasn’t about pace.
It wasn’t about distance.
There was definitely no PR happening today.
The only goal was to get through my 45 minutes.
And that’s exactly what I did.
Some Days the Win Is Just Finishing
I’ve had some pretty awesome workouts lately.
I’ve broken PRs.
I’ve run 9.07 miles.
I’ve done a mud run.
I’ve pushed myself harder than I thought I could.
But yesterday wasn’t one of those days.
Yesterday was about doing something when I really didn’t want to do it.
And honestly, I think those days matter just as much as the great ones.
Maybe even more.
It’s easy to keep going when you’re having fun and everything feels good.
It’s a lot harder when your knee feels tight, your headphones die, your motivation is nonexistent, and your bed and book are practically calling your name.
But I got my 45 minutes done.
I made it home, knocked out my sit-ups, cleaned myself up, and then…
GAME TIME! π
My son’s first football game of the season!
LET’S GOOOOO!
He came out on fire, and it was shaping up to be a really good game.
For approximately…
Six minutes. π
Then a nasty storm rolled in, and the game was called.
All that rushing around to get my workout finished before the game, and Mother Nature gave us six whole minutes of football.
Thanks for that.
Still, I got to see my son out there for the start of his season, and those six minutes were pretty damn exciting.
Four Days
Yesterday wasn’t pretty.
It wasn’t fast.
It wasn’t fun.
But it was done.
And with only four days remaining, that’s what matters.
One of the biggest things this challenge has taught me is that motivation isn’t always going to show up.
Sometimes you have to show up without it.
Yesterday was one of those days.
Day 66 complete. Only 4 days to go. πͺπ©·
